Bio
Kelly Peloza is a consistently motivated vegan baker, cookbook author, and art school student who is always creating something. She values the aesthetics of the world and the art of baking is no exception. After becoming vegan at age fourteen, she discovered a passion for baking and began formulating her own recipes with an emphasis on decadence and approachability. She soon formed the opinion that instructing bakers to use “egg replacer” or tofu in a recipe was no way to introduce vegan baking to the general population. Her impetus to create a cookie book was to show the world that vegan baking, cookies in particular, can be accessible and an exhilarating experience for the palate. Her first book, The Vegan Cookie Connoisseur: Over 140 Simply Delectable Recipes to Treat the Eyes and Taste Buds, was written in high school and she secured a book deal shortly after graduating.
Kelly and her work have been featured on numerous blogs and publications, locally and around the world. She was a featured chef at Chicago VeganMania 2010, her photographs appeared in the March 2010 issue of Vegetarian Times, and the book was featured in the March/April 2011 issue of VegNews. Kelly recently finished her first book tour with appearances in New York City, San Francisco, Milwaukee, and her hometown of Grayslake, IL.
Kelly currently resides in Milwaukee with her bunny, Gnocchi, goes to school for photography and writing. She also contributes articles to One Green Planet, and occasionally guest posts on numerous other blogs.
The Vegan Cookie Connoisseur: Over 140 Simply Delectable Recipes to Treat the Eyes and Taste Buds is available on the blog, on Amazon, and bookstores worldwide! Keep updated on upcoming events to see if there’s a signing near you!
